Lobster Business

Local lobstermen were decimated in 2012 due to a unusually warm winter which created a supply glut, pushing prices to 30 year lows, nearly 70% below normal,  engendering product dumping into our local market. Click for the Boston Business Journal Story "Low lobster prices bad news for Mass. lobstermen, or the Boston Globe story Lobsrter Prices Plunge to Fishermen's Chagrin,  LOBSTER PRICE WAR High-volume catch creates bargain for consumers, hardship for fishermen"  the story in the Wall Street Journal, or the story in the New York Times, or the story in Time Magazine, or Time again, or CNN, or The Guardian, or NBC. Here is a video about what happened.
Watch another on what happened in 2012...
Get Local! Buy a lobster, support a fisherman, help a family flourish. And don't just do it at the farmers market. All our lobstermen need help.
