HIP (Healthy Incentives Program):

Massachusetts residents enrolled in SNAP are automatically enrolled in the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP). When someone uses their SNAP/EBT card at an approved farmers market to buy fruits and vegetables, they immediately receive a dollar-for-dollar incentive rebate with no coupons needed.  Monthly caps apply based on household size:
  • 1–2 people: $40 per month
  • 3–5 people: $60 per month
  • 6 or more: $80 per month
Example: Buy apples, tomatoes and corn with your SNAP/EBT card. If you spend $12, you’ll instantly get $12 put back into your account. This benefit does not accrue and must be used or forfeited every month.  You must have money available on your SNAP/EBT card to use your HIP benefit.
