Charles River Farm was founded in the 1980's by father and son, John and Andrew Dellea. The farm quickly grew into a year-round greenhouse production of flowers, vegetable greens, and herbs, as well as a variety of seasonal produce for sales to restaurants and locals at our own farm store. When COVID hit Andy reached out to the Quincy Farmers Market and to our good luck, became a vendor. Charles River Farm is committed to sustainable agriculture. They follow organic practices and have an extensive composting program for soil health, now and into the future. |
The Daily Farm came to the Quincy Farmers Market via Laos where the Hmong people supported American troops during the Viet Nam War. They traveled through the jungle, along the river to Thailand where Chai lived for several years in a refugee camp. Pah was born there. In 2005 they immigrated to Rhode Island where they started farming to grow the food that they liked to eat. In 2017 they started their family-owned farm. They grow organic, (though not certified), pesticide free and GMO-free fruits and vegetables. In the Spring of 2022, we invited them to join the Quincy Farmers Market. Now they are growing vegetables that you like to eat.

Mike grew up on farm where he and his older brother competed in growing vegetables. Lucky for the Quincy Farmers Market that Mike’s brother was better at growing vegetables than he was. Perhaps that’s why Mike decided to raise chicken, duck and quail instead of growing vegetables. Since 2018, Mikes been bringing their free-range eggs, always fresh, to us. |
Matt at the core is a chemical engineer, but he loves mushrooms. So when he was seeking a business he started More Than Before. “It just made sense,” said Matt. “Applying chemical processes to maximize mushroom production.” And now he is using research and technology to produces a variety of medicinal and culinary mushrooms. |
Jill has always wanted a business of her own, and her inspiration comes from her time in Albania where she taught young women about entrepreneurship using community resources. Bees were common, so the excess of wax was used to make beeswax candles. This experience led to the creation of Bee Well Candle Co. Made from 100% beeswax and sourced essential oils, Jill’s candle burn long and clean. |
Cameron started his culinary adventure baking during COVID. The Great British Baking show was his inspiration. Friends and family loved his scones, cookies and breads, and encouraged hims to go commercial. He took the leap and contacted the Quincy farmers market on May 17, 2022. By May 23rd we had his certifications in order. He met with Father Chris at the St Chrysostom’s Church to make arrangements to use their kitchen. Now he’s a Saturday night, Sunday morning regular. He and Father Chris have become coffee buddies. You can taste the European influence, rich in flavor, moist and delicious.

Amy grew up in Florida but lives in Quincy, now. She works full time as an educator, but when she discovered the Quincy Farmers Market in August 2022, she thought it would be the perfect place to turn a hobby of making sweet potato chips into her business, Amy’s Yams. These days Amy spends Sundays at the market where she loves talking with customers, sharing and selling her yummy “organic” sweet potato chips. |

Stewardship
The Quincy Farmers Market (QFM) is a woman-owned and operated business fostering intercultural connections with our community since 1982. Founded by a Finnish Emigrant, continued by a retired Special Needs School Teacher and volunteers. It is run with the discipline of business as a model of efficiency for our startups yet an eye to the impact of philanthropy as a service to the community and small, family-owned farms and businesses who are our vendors and friends.
QFM is a placemaking initiative stewarded, on a break-even basis, as an urban-rural partnership, small-business incubator, and venue for artisanry, test-marketing, and social network formation in the regional agriculture and cottage industries.
