Liars War about Iraq & Vietnam received an award at the Boston Folk Festival Singer Songwriter Contest

John MacLean's beautiful song "Liar's War" is touching and revealing, sad and intimate and sung with a gentle voice and spirit... Julie Dougherty
John MacLean played "Liar's War." It knocked me out. His understated style is like quiet fire... —  Tracy O'Connell

"... full of heartbreak. The room was silent, listening..."
—  James O'Brien, Jamaica Plain Bulletin

“John MacLean has always been a storyteller. He has told stories from history in his classroom...he has told stories from the stage...and he has told stories from the heart with the recent release of his first musical album, “Letters Home.””

A lament for Newtown

Play the market - Late Afternoon

We invite everyone to take a shot, make their debut, share a song you wrote, offer a tune, do some busking. Live performance is very different than practicing and this is a low risk setting in which to get some experience.

You don't have to be a pro. All styles are welcome. We have hosted Bach Suites for Solo Cello, 12 year old violinists, Brass Trios, tenor sax & electric bass covering Hendrix, not to mention, boogie, swing, and Beyonce. Bring it.

We even had a jazz flute & classical guitar cover of Boston-based American Celtic Punk band the Drop Kick Murphy's Shippin' Up to Boston. (But no mosh pit, sorry.) Don't believe us? Pump up the volume full blast  then click here ->_> www.genicmusic.com  ->->->->->->->->->
