Poems for Our Market
April was National Poetry Month. Click to read or hear the poem, Festooning Renga, written about the Quincy Farmers Market while in the market. https://conta.cc/2PbCYtB ("Festooning" is a cooperative behavior of bees. "Renga" is a collaborative form of poetry.)
News Summary
- The Quincy Farmers Market traditionally opens the last Friday of June and runs until the last Friday before Thanksgiving.
- If you would like to become a vendor in our market, or volunteer, become a Market Ambassador, or train to become a market manager contact us now. We begin prep for the season in February and March.
- If you would like to start a business in the Food or Cottage Industry we may be able to help.
- Involvement in our market community also happens online in social media, through our live Queen of Quincy Quisine cooking shows, live online Garden-to-Glass mixology parties, Farm-to-Table dinners at local restaurants, and other events around town.
- In 2020 we ran a walk-through market, Community Supported Agriculture, online pre-order and drive-through. We anticipate these modes in 2021.
- In addition to shopping we typically feature public art, fine art, community information and civic engagement opportunities, and music.
- If you would like to be involved in talking about the future of the market we plan to host an event in May.
- Contact Kevin Dye on all issues at: kevin@futureworldscenter.org or 339-225-2607 .
QFM Events in 2020 |
Art - Our market hosted several fine art painting shows for people to view while in line for other vendors. Public Art installations surrounded patrons and vendors through the season.
Community Events - This year we celebrated Autumn on the Water at Marina Bay with a Farm-to-Table dinner at Victory Point. Our farmers donated hay bales, cornstalks, mums, and pumpkins to create a great photo op overlooking the bay.
Souther Tide Mill - the market donated all the makings to spruce up the Tide Mill on the Southern Artery with all the fixings to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Queen of Quincy Quisine - Janet Little launched an online video series including some live interactive cooking and drinking shows. She was featured in the Patriot Ledger with a beautiful, very colorful photo-essay of the behind-the-scenes production of the show and eating with her viewers outside overlooking the tidal salt marsh behind her house.
