HIP BENEFIT: If you use the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) you are automatically enrolled in HIP. There is no additional registration. You can get $40, $60, or $80 of fresh produce – fruits and vegetables for free every month at the Quincy Farmers Market. The monthly amount depends on the size of your household 1-2 people, 3-5, or 6 or more. You do not have to spend your SNAP benefits at all. It is not a “matching” program. It is a give-away program. There must be one of those amounts left on your card to process the EBT transaction, but then the money is credited back within a few minutes. Funding for HIP is provided by the State of Massachusetts. Please note that no one from the HIP partnership or government works at the Quincy Farmer’s Market. Please use SNAP, EBT, HIP, and Project Bread contacts to guide use of assistance programs.
